Mastering Brand Building and Marketing

Last month, the Black Eco Chamber hosted the Brand Building and Marketing Workshop hosted by Brave New World Enterprises and BECO Founder, Shyan Selah, and Brave New World’s Executive Vice President, Candice Richardson. The event provided a comprehensive guide to marketing strategy. Some of the key insights shared during the workshop, included:

  1. Identifying why marketing can be difficult at a time when digital marketing has never been easier or cheaper. It’s important to realize when promoting yourself, your company, or your brand is as easy as hitting the “boost” button on Facebook, chances are there’s millions of others who are doing the same. The trick is to figure out how to cultivate a message designed to cut through the saturation and that involves marketing  with the consumer’s viewpoint in mind.
  1. How to identify your target market, and most importantly how to recognize who’s NOT in your target market. Trying to market to everyone or so everyone wants what you have to sell is an impossible task. Once you’ve figured out who your product or service is not for, then it’s much easier to hone in on who it is for.
  1. Figuring out how to cultivate a story that will resonate with your target market. By crafting a compelling brand story and ensuring consistency across all touchpoints, new business owners can establish a strong foundation for their marketing efforts.
  1. Understanding the difference between Advertising, Promotions, Publicity, and Public Relations. These terms are often mistaken for each other when discussing marketing. It’s important to define what each marketing approach does and how and when to utilize it effectively in promoting your brand.
  1. The importance of Frequency. It’s not unheard of to begin a marketing campaign only to get discouraged, overwhelmed, or bored and quit right before impact is made. Staying consistent and persistent is key to introducing your brand to the marketplace and building trust.

Overall the Black Eco Chamber’s Brand Building and Marketing Workshop provided new business owners with a wealth of knowledge and the above practical strategies for crafting effective marketing plans and attendees gained valuable insights into the world of marketing. Armed with these strategies, business owners are better-equipped to navigate the ever-evolving marketing landscape, build a strong brand, and achieve long-term success.
